Cop Love/ Doctor Love on Corporate TV

Ever notice that the lion share of TV shows have historicaly and currently been dramas glorifying cops/lawyers and doctors? Think about the most popular TV shows on these days: CSI, CSI Miami, CSI New York, Law and Order , Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds, Mentalist, ER, Grey s Anatomy, Private Practice, Boston Legal, Numbers, Cold Case, Lock UP, To Catch a Predator, 48 Hours Mystery, Police Woman of BC, and the list could go on at length.
What is behind this? People have told me that the free market dictates that these types of shows interest the worker and so the worker watches. The working man must be intrigued by these professions. However, my cop friends tell me how awful and mundane their job really is and judging from the doctor I used to go to,being a med isn't that glamorous, either.
The corporate media glorifies these jobs because no one would ever desire these jobs if the media didn't add prestige to these occupations. The corporate/government/media/university alliance can only exist if people work these jobs. So they constantly barrage the worker with cop/med/lawyer shows. Hypnotic, through repetition, the worker then will tell their child to go into these professions because it seems fun to shoot African Americans, or to have sex in the operating room/courthouse.
